Mumbai Press Clubs condemns brutal attacks on media persons who were reporting Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s trial in a CBI court in Panchkula (Haryana) on Friday.  
 
Outdoor broadcasting vans of television news channels were attacked by the supporters of the guru outside a court complex in Panchkula, adjoining Chandigarh. Some OB vans were set on fire.
 
The self-styled religious guru was found guilty of raping and sexually exploiting two female disciples.
 
We demand protection for journalists while they perform their official duty in such sensitive situations. We also seek action against the culprits and demand suitable compensation for the damage that was caused by the Dera followers.
