RedInk Awards Entry Date Extended to 15th March, 2018

MUMBAI, 28 February: Responding to a spate of requests from both individual journalists as well as editors for more time to put together their stories and entries for the RedInk Awards, it has been decided to extend the last date for entries to 15th March, 2018.

Journalists with a great broadcast, web or print story are invited to send in their work early in order to be well in time. For the first time in its eight years, the RedInk Awards have been opened up to foreign correspondents writing on India.

To identify the best stories, and raise the bar for the selection process, the Mumbai Press Club has made a special appeal to editors of print and broadcast networks to identify, and nominate their best stories in Calendar 2017.

This year RedInk Awards has introduced a new category of awards – ‘Women Empowerment and Gender Equality’. The award has been introduced to highlight the struggle of women against gender exploitation, as well as to encourage writing on the plight of the girl child.

In all, there are 11 categories of awards covering written and broadcast stories published in Calendar 2017 in the print, web and television medium. For details on the categories and how to enter, applicants are requested to download this file

The winning entry in each category will be awarded a total cash prize of Rs. 1.5 Lakh, a trophy and a citation. The Awards will be given away at a special function on 18 May, at the Jamshed Bhaba Theatre, National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA).

The RedInk Awards follow a rigorous process of selection which includes the constitution of a special jury in each of the categories to short-list and choose the winning entries.

Some of India’s best journalists – Vinod Mehta, N Ram, Mrinal Pande, Kuldip Nayyar, Dr Prannoy Roy, Rajkamal Jha, Ravish Kumar T N Ninan and Vinod Dua – have been among the recipients of the RedInk Award for ‘Lifetime Achievement’ and ‘Journalist of the Year’ Awards; and we expect to continue the record of choosing the best and the bravest.

The RedInk Awards are an initiative of the Mumbai Press Club in partnership with Star India. Other event partners include the Aditya Birla Group, Global Health Strategies, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Dr Reddy Laboratories, Eros International, Zee Entertainment, Nanavati Hospital and Omkar Developers. The Print Partners for the event are ‘The Hindu Group’.
