Earlier this year, India witnessed one of the most major acquisitions in the media sector when Reliance industries took over Network 18.

The year's on its last leg, and one Twitter handle has initiated a conversation on the social media, which could give rise to several speculations.

Media Watcher, a Twitter handle run by an anonymous user, on Tuesday posted a tweet claiming that Mukesh Ambani in talks to buy The Indian Express newspaper.

The Twitter handle also mentioned that an official announcement confirming the news could be expected shortly. 

The claim seem to not go down well with Anant Goenka, head of The Indian Express' digital division, son of The Express Group chairman Viveck Goenka.and the two had a sort of online spat, with Media Watcher defending its claim, and Goenka rejecting it.
