Mumbai Press Club Condemns Gen VK Singh And Justice Katju

Mumbai Press Club Mumbai expresses shock and condemn the recent statement of Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (Retd) V K Singh referring to media as "presstitutes" and the blatant support that it received from Justice (Retd) Markandey Katju.

This comes from people of the respectable stature of  Gen Singh, a retired Chief of Army Staff and former Chief of Defence Staff and Justice Katju, a former Supreme Court judge, who incidentally had served for three years as Chairman of the Press Council of India.

While in his Tweets, Gen Singh has repeatedly used the word "presstitutes", he received a backing from Justice Katju.

Please look at the two disgusting tweets:

Friends what do you you expect from presstitutes. Last time Arnab thought there was ‘O’ in place of ‘E’ #TimesNowDisaster

The vast majority of mediapersons wld certainly fall in d category mentioned by@Gen_VKSingh , as my experience in Press Council taught me.

Of late, both of them have been seen making statements like this - however, an attack on the Fourth Estate would not be tolerated.

Mumbai Press Club reminds both Gen Singh and Justice Katju that India knows them because of the Press.

It is time both of them stop attacking the media.
